Welcome to Theatre of Operations!

We are a do-it-yourself theatre company based in Richmond, Virginia since 1997. Our style is dance-infused and actor-focused, with influences that include a wide range of experimental theatre and dance styles.

Our work is truly experimental - the emphasis is on posing questions and testing hypotheses, by whatever stylistic means suit the work. Our view is that theatre, and all art, can serve an important cultural purpose by challenging the artist and the audience.

We produce 1-3 shows a year, typically Richmond area premieres. Currently, we're putting the finishing touches on The Burning Ode, a company-created drama using text from Charles Mee to explore boundaries and the space between them.
