places we visit
These are some of the sites we visit for theatre resources (or just
for fun) and some of the artists we love.
Ontological Hysterical
Richard Foreman's company (in Greenwich Village) produces his work
and a lot of interesting new plays.
Robert Wilson
Wilson is one of the foremost American experimental
theatre directors.
The
Ululating Mummies
The Mummies are probably Richmond's most unique
band; they also rent us a great downtown space for shows.
Starr Foster Dance
Exciting local dance company (modern).
Artspace Gallery
A popular space for performances of all sorts.
Nanci Raygun
Fun club, good food, all sorts of crazy art and music.
Ground Zero Dance
Another great local modern dance company. They also perform in Charlottesville.
Charles Mee's Remaking Project
Mee writes some really beautiful, lyrical plays. He also does a
lot of cobbling text from various sources together, which he allows
theatre companies to use for free.
Glen Allen Cultural Arts
Center
Local arts facility.
SPARC
The School for the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community - where
to send your kids in Richmond.
SITI
The Saratoga International Theatre Institute is Anne Bogart's theatre
company. Members of TOO have trained with these guys in the past
- they're amazing.
RichmondTheaters.com
Some of the local theaters have consolidated their season listings
on a single site.
